There are three reasons why I haven’t posted any blog posts since Blogathon KL.
1) I’ve never been a hardcore blogger per se, and the recent “24″ hours of blogging has pretty much drained up most of my blogging juices.
2) I spent 2 full days at YES 2009 and have been Twitting like crazy. You can check out my updates on the hashtag #yes2009.
3) I’ve been too busy trying to catch up with work since I’ve been away from the office for so long.
OK. So they aren’t exactly solid reasons, but this is my blog, so my reasons are gospel. Hah! There, I’ve said it. Pfft.

OK. Enough BS.

So what’s been going on in my life? Well, for starters, I kinda walked away from the Intel/Lenovo/TANGS Blogathon as the winner….

I want to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to everyone who commented on my blog, retweeted my tweets, came down to Pavilion to vote for me, and for making all those kick ass placards!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
OK. Maybe talk is cheap, but I just want everyone to know that winning this competition really meant a lot to me, but knowing that I have your support and love means so much more. I never in my wildest dreams thought that so many of you guys would come down and show your support, and to be completely honest, I was so touched that winning the contest was more like a bonus to me. I love you guys, and I really really thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

To the rest of you who’s picture isn’t up on my blog, I sincerely apologize to you. Please don’t take it personally because I haven’t forgotten you – it’s just that I don’t have a picture of us together!

I also want to thank the three bloggers who took part in this contest with me – Cheesie, KY and SixthSeal. I may not have been as friendly or as chatty as I usually can be in the box, and I fully acknowledge that. Sorry if I gave off the wrong impression of me being lansi or whatnot, but the truth is, I was pretty intimidated (and still am) by your reputations as major league bloggers. I guess that brought out the competitive side of me. Thank you for your gracious congratulatory notes, and I hope we can meet up again soon for a yum cha session. I’m sure KY will have some awesome place to recommend, kan?

After the Blogathon episode was over, I had barely a day’s rest before I headed back into the fray. I spent Monday and Tuesday in Putrajaya for the YES2009 conference, and I have to say, it was a pretty awesome experience. I headed there without any expectations – assuming that it would all be rather camp since it was a YOUTH summit – but I left feeling extremely glad that I did participate. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get many pictures since the Samsung camera that I was using during Blogathon was a loaner, but here are some of the highlights of my 2 days.
1) Met Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter. Realized that he probably wasn’t the half that did most of the talking. Was lightly entertained, but not overly impressed by his public address.
2) Realized how bloody awesome Sir Bob Geldoff really is. His message was a little crude and in your face, but it held true and was extremely relevant and inspiring to the youths.
3) Got very annoyed with Tony Fernandes’ “eeerrrrrrr” laugh.
4) Contemplated asking Nando Parrado what human meat tastes like, but chickened out.
5) Caught a glimpse of the Trump and felt his looming “I’m your boss so STFU” persona even though he was talking to us from Trump Towers via satellite.
6) Ran a flat and managed to change my tire under the pouring rain in 15 minutes.

Another update that I have is in regards to the Lowyat.TV project that we’re embarking on. After rounds and rounds of discussion, planning and scripting, we’re finally ready to shoot! If you’ve watched previous Lowyat.TV efforts, like the interview with Eva Loke, Amber Chia, and my various overseas junkets, then forget about them for now. If you have no idea what the heck I was talking about in the last sentence, then good, because we’re starting something completely new under the Lowyat.TV marque.
I can’t reveal much now (I know, I know. Then WTF did I bother blogging this about rite?), but what I can say is that for this round of shooting, we actually have a bona fide production crew with us, so you can expect big things to come.
Until then though, please do check out http://www.lowyat.tv and give me your feed back on what you think about the layout, etc. You can’t sign up now, but sign ups will be open very soon!
OK. That’s enough ranting from me today, so I’ll sign off with two random pictures.

Campaign poster from Celest. Thanks Carebear!
WIWT (What I’m Wearing Today): Unofficial /k/ tshirt, army shorts, Incredible Hulk Bapesta, watch from Suan Lum market in Bangkok.
We’re about 20 minutes from the end of the Intel/Lenovo/TANGS blogathon and I can confidently say that everyone’s pooped. But before we make a dash for our freedom, I just wanna extend a huge thank you to all the folks that dropped by and cast their votes for me. It was an extremely memorable day for all of us, and I won’t be forgetting the experience any time soon!

Lo and behold – the mighty (some might say mightily boring) 5-in-1 card reader!
Can technology be fashionable? I certainly think so. Which is why I purposely chose one of the most boring devices that I could find in this aquarium – this orange card reader that belongs to Huai Bin – just to prove a point.
To tell you the truth, it wasn’t easy to pimp up this drab piece of plastic. Sure, it has slots for all sorts of memory cards, but then again, memory cards aren’t exactly the sexiest things in the world either.
So how do you fix a problem that looks pretty dead end? Well, it isn’t that difficult actually…

See – problem fixed. I’m pretty sure you’ll be hard pressed NOT to agree with me that the once drab, plasticy, mediocre card reader is now a fashionable tech device! Hahaha! OK so maybe I cheated there, but one look is all it takes to make me go – “wow, that’s hot”.
Oh, and before I sign off…

REPOSTA FTW!
Is it the clothes you wear?

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Or is it the way you wear it?

Even after two whole days of sitting in the TANGS window display, I still cant put my finger on it. I’ve been around sexy, expensive designer clothes for longer than I spend at home, yet I can’t tell for sure if style is really defined by what you wear, or who wears it.
Silly, I know, but hey I’m silly like that.
Personally, I almost never wear slacks. I’m almost always either in a pair of jeans or in a pair of shorts.

I’m also almost always in a tshirt…

But when I’m not, I enjoy wearing plaid shirts…

Occasionally, I put on a jacket…

But we’re in Malaysia, and a lot of jackets are unfortunately off limits…

Finally, my headgear of choice is a truckers cap…

So a regular dress up day would look something like this…

Or this…

Or this..

Or even this…

OK. So I don’t have much style per se. And I can’t blame you for saying that either. Like the old saying goes – one man’s meat is another man’s poison – so I’ve come to the conclusion that style isn’t about what you wear, but rather who wears it. Confidence is definitely the key, so after a long “explanation” to the simple question of “what defines style”, I’d have to say…
.
.
.
YOU do.
In my line of work, I deal with tech every day. Be it from the aspect of the devices themselves, to the services that they offer. Today however, we’re going to talk about another aspect of tech that has steadily been gaining importance over recent times – aesthetics!

No longer are devices like mobile phones only available in monotonous colors like black or…. black.

Or come in sizes big enough to double up as a weapon (or water bottle)…

But in slick designs and fashionable colors!

Reposta for good measure.
The lovely lady above not only owns a fashionably colorful mobile phone, but is also the proud owner of a Nintendo DS, and various other gadgets. As a beauty consultant from Sabah, she’s definitely someone who know’s what’s fashionable and what isn’t, so if a red mobile phone is good enough for her, then who am I to argue rite?
Well, just for good cause, here’s another piece of eye candy for your enjoicement!

Just a quick post to thank those of you who dropped by and voted for me!
The guys:

The girls:

And the couples:

So far, only one lady has come on her own. The rest are guys and couples… FML… SINGLE LADIES WHERE ARE U?
1) This event is the result of a sponsorship campaign between Intel, Lenovo and TANGS Pavilion.

Were sitting in the window display of TANGS, so their part in this is pretty obvious. All the machines that we’re using are from Lenovo, so that explains their part too. And of course, all these machines – including the ones that you can win – are powered by Intel processors.
2) We’re not the only ones competing

YOU can win a prize too, and it’s REALLY simple to participate too! All you have to do is drop by the main window display at TANGS and take a picture with me form outside the window. You don’t even have to bring your own camera as there are camera men / women ready on standby. The picture will be uploaded here http://bit.ly/kl-blogathon and the picture with the most “likes” at the end of this competition will be deemed as the winner!
3) The chi flow in this box isn’t exactly balanced

As you can see, it’s an MMMF combo going on in here. 3 guys, 1 girl (lucky not 3 guys, 1 cup) so the Yin Yang balance is way off!
4) Things aren’t always what they seem when you’re in an aquarium for 12 hours

Long black hair in a pony tail?

But turn around and… FML.
5) Even when you are hungry, it doesn’t mean you can eat

Especially when there’s a huge crowd just inches away from you. Paiseh ler…
6) Campaigning for votes doesn’t just involve asking

Offer something first in whatever capacity you can!
7) Play to you strengths

But don’t forget to acknowledge your weaknesses!
Going to toilet once every 3 hours is ok

Unless you drink too much water before realizing that your next toilet break is 2.5 hours away.
9) Random acts of kindness aren’t just a fairy tale

They do exist!
10) Friends will try to taunt you endlessly
But they’re only doing it cos they care!
Welcome back to Day 2 of the Intel + Lenovo + TANGS Live Mannequin Blogathon!

We’re back in the aquarium a.k.a. the main window display of TANGS Pavilion KL for another 12 hour adventure. The coffee is on standby and the lobbying posters are up, so if you’re in the vicinity or have nothing better to do on a Saturday, then please do drop by and say hi.
You can also vote for me to help me win this contest, and you can take a picture with me from outside the window display and YOU’LL be in the running to win this sweet sweet machine!
You could win a Lenovo S10-2 just by taking a picture with me and uploading it to www.bit.ly/kl-blogathon
But enough vote whoring for now – if you dropped by the blog or the window display yesterday, then you would have remembered seeing me in this outfit…
I admit, it wasn’t exactly something that I’d usually wear, and I didn’t exactly feel all that comfortable in such a bright color – but it helped make me stand out in a sea of gray / black.
Today however, is a whole different ball game altogether!
.
.
.

I arrived in TANGS like this – Subcrew “We Are The Champions” mesh cap, Banana Republic T, army 3/4 pants and a pair of tartan print Jordan Low Nu Retro’s – and changed into this…
.
.
.

Fred Perry sports jacket, French Connection Ghostbusters T, Lee jeans – outfit courtesy of TANGS.
I think the shoes and the cap go rather well with the outfit as a whole, and since I’m feeling a lil chilly today, the sports jacket definitely comes in handy!
A couple of people have already dropped by and taken photos with us, way early in the morning. See if you can spot anyone you know…
The guys:

The girls:

OK so the guys kinda outnumber the girls right now, so if you’re a hot lady and you know it, remember to drop by the TANGS window display soon!
THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT PEEPS!
UPDATE: KY of KY Speaks almost saboed himself. The ominous low battery alarm rang, and he only had 10% battery left! HAHAHA!

KY tries amazing save while Cheesie looks on.

Safe! Phew!
It has been a looooong day, but to tell you the truth, I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who took time out of their day to vote for me here at Pavilion KL. I’d like to extend a speacially big THANK YOU to all the tech media / PR peeps who made it down here with their special messages!

I really really really don’t know what else to say other than… HOU TOUCH AH!!!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS MEMORABLE DAY IN MY LIFE!
So yeah, you’ve already seen me in a pink shirt – a color that I would almost never wear on my own free will – so I guess it’s about time I tell you a little bit about stuff that I would wear!
Truckers caps a.k.a. mesh caps!
And….
.
.
.
Sneakers!
Yeah. These are my two fetishes for a number of reasons. Here are 3.
1) I’m too fat to collect jeans. Most raw denim jeans only come in sizes of up to 34. Well at least in Malaysia ler…
2) I’m too fat to collect tshirts. Most tshirts available here are in Asian sizing, and XL just can’t cut it.
3) I’m too poor to collect watches. The only “branded” watches I have are from the Casio G-Shock range.
So on to my ultimate fashion fix – since I’m pretty much a fan of both caps and kicks, one of the best places to go to indulge in shopping definately has to be HONG KONG!

Home of streetwear brands such as Sam Lee’s Sub Crew, Edison Chen’s CLOT, Sir JBS’s (24Herbs) Know1edge, and Milk Magazine’s Silly Thing, Hong Kong also home to some of the best streetwear resellers!
On my last trip there, I traveled with a relatively empty suitcase and a big wad of cash, and blew it all on…

AND
.
.
.
.

I told you I had a fetish right?
So, I guess you don’t really need to ask me twice when it comes to the question of “my ultimate fashion fix”?
